Why did you choose to go to Nicosia, Cyprus?
I wanted to experience a different country in Europe that has such interesting culture, nature and history.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I received the scholarship for all my stay (5months) in one time transfer before my arrival to Cyprus.
What is the student lifestyle like in Nicosia?
Student life is very intensive, many trips, festivals, cultural events, nice student parties with locals and erasmus students.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Nicosia to other students?
Even that I was student of European University Cyprus, my student hostel was very close to University of Nicosia, so I attended many events happening there and really recommend Erasmus to choose it.
What is the food like?
Delicious food, souvlaki and moussaka are my favourite meals even 3 years after my Erasmus stay.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Nicosia?
yes, it costed, but I found really reasonable price for accomodation.
How much does it cost to live in Nicosia?
Really hard to estimate, but accomodation is around 200-250 euros per month for separated bedroom at student flat.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
I attended EILC before my arrival and it was very helpful, but even only with English you can feel comfortable at Nicosia.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Nicosia from your city?
From Prague there was the straight flight.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Nicosia?
I went to "Ithaki" every wednesday for Erasmus parties and "Nuovo" (now its named differently) with my local friends
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Nicosia?
"Fanous" lebanese restaurant is great choice, great kitchen, Greek nights on Thursdays and shisha service.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Pafos archeological park, Troodos mountains, too many places, so beautiful.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Nicosia in the future?
Just go there, it's really a great choice.
