Daniele's Erasmus Experience in Nicosia, Cyprus
Why did you decide to go to Nicosia, Cyprus?
To learn English.
How long did your grant last? How much did you receive?
5 months... I received €2400.
What is the student atmosphere like in Nicosia?
Quite active, however consider the fact that it is an island.. quite small.. and public transport leaves much to be desired.
Would you recommend Nicosia city and university to other students?
It depends if you have other possibilities. I would suggest more famous cities.
How is the country's food?
Tasty.
Was it difficult to find accommodation in Nicosia?
No.. there are single rooms available from €170.
How much does it cost to live in Nicosia?
It depends on how much you spend. The island is a bit costly because it is essentially a tourist destination; with €500 per month a student would struggle.
How is the language going? Did you attend any university courses?
They make you take courses. The universities are really good, especially private ones.
What is the cheapest way to get to Nicosia from your city?
Airplane.
What places do you recommend going out in the evening in Nicosia?
Nicosia centre, Ayia Napa.
And to eat in Nicosia? Can you tell us your favourite places?
Kebabs.
And some cultural places to see?
There is not much to see. The sea however is crystal clear.
What advice would you want to give to future students of Nicosia?
Go on Erasmus to Nicosia with some friends.
