Finding my place in the world
It's a dream
I had dreamt of going to New York since I was a little kid and when I say I dreamt, I actually mean having dreams of being there.
New York is everything and more than you could ever think of. A person can find food to eat from basically every culture in the world. Ukrainian food, Pakistani food and even Finnish food, if you would ever want to eat that.
The city that never sleeps
Eventhough people say that New York is a city that never sleeps, I think I have seen it sleeping. It was around 4 am. I had been out with a friend in the Lower Manhattan and then took a cab ride to the Midtown, where I was staying. The massive four lane streets were empty. Of course you could see a cab pass you by every once in a while, but seldom. So I took my chance to walk in right in the middle of the road and just glance around.
The 5th avenue seemed endless and the skyscrapers around me felt unreal. I felt like I was in one of my dreams. I think I even cried a little bit. To think that everything around me had been built by us, humans. It was spectacular. That night I truly fell in love with that city.
Midtown
I myself stayed in Midtown, which I think was pretty much filled with busy business men and women. It was a nice place to stay in, it felt safe and it was pretty clean. Compared to other parts of Manhattan, this was a bit more upper class than, but it was no Upper East Side.
Lower Manhattan
This is where I spent a lot of time partying. I had a friend from New Jersey, who knew the best places to dance and hang out at. Most of it was in the Lower Manhattan. So it was quite youthful place and also slightly underground. It might have not been as safe, but it turned out to be one of my favourite places in the city.
