Experience in Naples, Italy by Yanelis
What is it like to live in Naples? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It's a historic city, full of culture, monuments and so many other things to see. Many people are welcoming and they make you feel at home.
What is the student lifestyle like in Naples?
I think it's enjoying, you will happen to meet new people every day, as universities are big and have more than one branch.
How much does it cost to live in Naples?
It depends on where are you from: if you come from an expensive country, like Germany or Great Britain, Naples is cheaper.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Naples? Is there any advice you can give?
A lot of students rent a flat or a room near the universities, so I think it's quite easy to find accommodation.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Well, I think everybody knows that Napolitan food is definitely the best in the world. Beyond the best pizzas, you will find out so many specialities! For example, you can't miss the "panino napoletano". It's so tasty and so cheap!
What places would you recommend visiting in Naples?
The historic center, San Martino in Vomero and the seaside, "il lungomare". However, by train you can visit Pompei, Ercolano, Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano.
Is the nightlife good in Naples? Where is good to go?
Yes, nightlife is very lively: beyond pubs and restaurants, which close quite late, there are many discos or, if you want something softer, the historic center is full of bars where you can have a drink and then walk along the typical tight streets.
What advice would you give future students heading to Naples?
Just enjoy your stay and be ready to experience or see something you had never thought about before.
