Erasmus Experience in Napoli, Italy by Andrea
Why did you choose to go to Napoli, Italy?
I decided to go to Naples, because I was sick of hipster fashion of going to Scandinavian countries, that are all about high level life, environment intelligence and gentility.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
4 months, 500€ a month.
What is the student lifestyle like in Napoli?
Actually, I don't meet many people from Erasmus (my school has only 4 Erasmus students), other students do not speak English, so there's some kind of a invincible gap between foreign students and natives. Therefore, student lifestyle looks just the way you make it for yourself.
What is the food like?
In supermarkets you can find everything you need, but they sell all just quality stuff, but that also means a bit escalated prices. Also, there's thousands of small shops, groceries, butcher's and other specialized markets where you can someday find better prices. Regarding to eating out, I'm not really the desirable customer, just a poor student, but don't expect super high cuisine. Frankly, I've seen some pizzas with french fries and ketchup on top.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Napoli?
No, I am a very smart girl.
How much does it cost to live in Napoli?
It depends on your standards. But for me 500€ is not enough. Usually it varies from 600 to 700.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
No and No.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Napoli from your city?
To fly here. 6 weeks in advance, buy tickets on Wednesday in the evening.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Napoli?
I don't know any clubs. Never been to any, so far. Most youngsters gather at Piazza Bellini and have some drinks outside. I don't dig this style, I miss pubs and draft beer.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Napoli?
Sorbillo, best pizza in town, they said. Well, I had better back in Czech Republic. And that's the only place I've been to.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Napoli in the future?
For Christ's sake learn Italian.

Pizzeria Sorbillo. It's one of the best, but it's a lot of them ;] Poor girl, I think that You were in different city, You missed a lot, also a truly atmosphere of Napoli. And it's a lot of pubs and draft beer, it wasn't hard to find ;)

Been to sorbillo's(the best one according to our napolitan friends), and I wasn't that thrilled. I am still here, it's just been a month here, maybe the season is the problem, but I don't think that 5€ draft beer in a aplastic cup, that you still have to drink outside will magically become agreeable price for me :)
