Angel's Experience of Erasmus in Naples, Italy

Why did you choose to go to naples, Italy?

It was my second option, but after living here, I have to thank destiny for sending me here.

How long is your placement? How much money did you get as a grant?

9 months and I received around 3000€.

What's the student scene like in Naples?

Italian people are quite similar to Spanish. There isn't much difference between us and them to be honest, they make it quite easy (although you do have to make a bit of an effort).

Would you recommend the city and the University of Naples to other students?

Yes, without a doubt. For young people who want to have fun, meet people and who aren't afraid to speak other languages, in my opinion it's the best city.

How's the food there?

Good in general. Not much variety because everything is centred around pasta and pizza, but good.

Was it difficult to find accommodation en Naples?

Personally no, but I know people who arrived a bit late and struggled.

how much does it cost to live in Naples?

The prices are higher than in Spain. Eating out and buying alcohol is cheap, but a visit to the supermarket is expensive. Around 300€ (without including rent, which is pretty expensive).

How's the language? Did you take a course at the University?

Yes, I took an A2 level course before I came. The language is easy to learn and understand.

What's the cheapest way of getting to Naples from your city?

Catching a flight.

Where would you recommend for going out in Naples?

The centre, and a club on the outskirts.

And eating in Naples? Can you list your favourite places?

I don't have one favourite place. They do very good pizza and pasta almost everywhere.

And for a cultural visit?

There are several places to visit. Everything's free on the first Sunday of every month.

Do you have any advice that you'd like to give to future students in Naples?

Take care in certain areas but don't be afraid. Enjoy the city because it's one of the best for an Erasmus student.
