University of Malta Canteen

The University of Malta Student Cafeteria is a place where students normally chill out and find food to eat. A large number of fixed-term contract employees work there.

The philosophy of the cafeteria is to offer the students and uni staff and external guests varied, healthy and tasty lunch specials. In the preparation of freshly cooked food they pay attention to the regional origin of the products like the "qassata" which is a Maltese speciality. Food preparation is done in strict compliance with the Guidelines and the latest health findings.

They offer quality and varied lunch menu at reasonable prices. Their philosophy in the area of food - and drink offer after speaking to a few of the employees is as follows:

• Primarily using regional products such as qassata, fruit and vegetables from the Malta bakery, products from University, etc.
• Inclusion of seasonal vegetables and salad offerings of the season (fresh);
• Quality assurance (certificates of main suppliers, regular inspection by the Food Health Inspectorate);
• Increasing the share of organic products already used in our food;
• Fresh fruit is offered piecemeal. Offer to season. For example: oranges, apples, pears, bananas etc...;
• They would especially like to point out that they also offer the following dairy products (fruit yogurt, Latella) at very reasonable prices;
• They have a wide range of soft drinks and coffee creations, such as "latte macchiato" and "cappuccino".
