Making new friends in Montpellier

Hey everyone,

If you're thinking on moving to Montpellier or going there for some weeks or for a semester, then you should definitely read this!

I lived in Montpellier and all I can say is that this city is small, unique and cool. I'll explain you all why I think this city is like this:

• First of all, I must say that Montpellier is a small-medium size city. It has more or less 800 000 habitants from which more than the 10% are students. Montpellier has a nice tramway system (the only problem of moving inside the city is when you go partying). Besides, the city has some nice museums (for example Musee Frabre) and it has a lot of restaurants. There are also some cinemas and there are 2 major shopping malls (Polygone and Odysseum, the later one is terrific! ). Finally, Montpellier has the beach just like 20 min with tram.
• Montpellier is unique because of its city center, because of its people, because of its charm. If you go to Montpellier for the first time, you will definitely be amazed by its little, cozy, cute city center. There you'll find all types of restaurants, as well as boutiques and museums and churches. The narrow streets and the crêpes sellers make from the city center an amazing place. People from Montpellier are just charming, they are very kind and welcoming. Also, partying at Montpellier is like no other experience.
• Montpellier is cool because of its environment and atmosphere. Around Montpellier there is a lot of nature and green areas. There is this beautiful park near Aiguelongue, where the Lez river (Rivière du Lez) crosses, and there you can do kayak. On the way to the beach, there are also some lakes where the sunset is overwhelming and where the nature is really exhuberant.

All in all, Montpellier is an ideal city for students where you would definitely feel comfortable and nice!
