How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My Erasmus was for one semester (6 months), I recieved enough to cover university costs and just about to live on but not much more from Student Finance.

What is the student lifestyle like in Montpellier?

The uni (Paul Valery, Montpellier III) was very difficult to work out, every department has a separate website and no timetables. It took me almost 5 weeks to find where my lectures were. Apart from that, there are lots of student events around for free or cheap, though it took me a while to make friends. I recommend doing the ERASMUS French course because you get to meet lots of people in the same boat as you.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Montpellier to other students?

I would recommend Montpellier because the city itself is beautiful and the weather is very warm, but the university I would advise caution.

What is the food like?

The food was nice, lots of options. I would try Tommy's Diner at Odysseum.

I found my accommodation through the university website so it was easy.

How much does it cost to live in Montpellier?

It is cheaper than the UK. From 100-300 euros per month generally (rent).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

French grammar is difficult but oral skills are easy to pick up if you try and speak it every day. There are specialised French courses at UMIII for foreign students and the teachers are very nice.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Montpellier from your city?

From London get an Easyjet flight from Luton.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Montpellier in the future?

Enjoy yourself. Do as much as possible. Don't hide in your room like I did and don't be scared to ask for help.
