Spoken French is definitely not the easiest but there are language courses available.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Montpellier from your city?

From my city, it’s better to take a direct flight to Paris with the Uzbekistan airways airline and then a €10 tgv train from Disneyland Paris to Montpellier.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Montpellier in the future?

Most rental companies don’t accept visale/garantme so you either pay 6 months rent upfront or find a French resident who can be your garant.
