Why did you choose to go to Montpellier, France?

Source

Because I wanted to go somewhere in the south of France and Montpellier wasn't really "famous" place.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I spend there 1 semester. I had about 430 euro/month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Montpellier?

Montpellier is a student city, so the students have a lot of places to go there and spend time together.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Montpellier to other students?

Yes, but is better to live in the city center. I was living near my school but it wasn't in the center, so if you don't want to use a bike in the night, is better to find a flat in the city center.

What is the food like?

I really like french food, and also for students, they have one good canteen which was cheap and good.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Montpellier?

Yes and no, because I didn't use any agency to find a flat. But however I paid for holidays (one month) to keep this flat, because I went to Montpellier in September.

How much does it cost to live in Montpellier?

Montepllier is not really big city (in my opinion), so for that I think is really expensive. If you compare this city even with Bordeaux (bigger and better city), Montpellier costs more.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I was in private school (Sup de Co). They offered some french classes, but however I already had my baccalaureate in french.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Montpellier from your city?

I didn't have a lot of choice, because from Krakow I didn't have any other easy way to go directly to Montpellier. I went there in the bus (I had a lot of things to take with me).

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Montpellier?

There are a lot of small pubs, restaurants, and clubs. It was 2 years ago, so now I don't remember the names. But everything is in the city center.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Montpellier?

I just remember that at Espace Philippe IV de Valois it's easy to find a good restaurant.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

If someone like football - Stadium (Montpellier was a Champion in 2012). Also they have a renovated opera in the city center. And also a cinema.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Montpellier in the future?

Now in Montpellier they did a tram way that goes directly to the sea. So now it will be easier to go there. Before I was always stuck in the big big traffic.
