The introduction

Hello people!

Well, you know, nowadays everyone drinks coffee and it’s a drink that most of the people buy in the streets or at corner shops or wherever they can find some good coffee. People just take those coffee mugs and go anywhere with them and sip them from time to time. That’s not good, they say, and they might be right: it’s not good for anyone to constantly sip coffee and drink it all day long, because then you get used to that and if the amount is not enough for you you don't get the usual effect, you know.

Anyways, I’m not a coffee person but of course I drink coffee from time to time. You should drink it some time, because it’s kind of good and sometimes you just want to drink some coffee, you know. It’s great, especially if you know where to drink some good coffee. There are some good coffees and some usual ones and you should decide, ì which one you want to have.

Getting to know about Cappuccino

Well, I want to tell you about Cappuccino, because it’s a delicious coffee and I just tasted it recently and I loved it and since then I drink it from time to time. However I didn’t really know much about it some time ago.

My sister told me about it: she’s older than me and, of course, she knew about it earlier and I’ll tell you how she learned about it. So, she was on a study course in Cambridge and there was this girl with her and she took her to this Italian restaurant, where they would have some pizza, and then they had some Tiramisù and Cappuccino for the dessert. She hadn’t tasted neither tiramisù nor cappuccino and it was her first time tasting them. She was amazed by Tiramisù and I didn't really know about cappuccino so she did mention something about it. I guess, that she didn’t order cappuccino there and only her friend had it.

Anyways, I knew about this cappuccino but I didn’t really know that it was Italian and that I would drink it while sightseeing Milan! They had this great cappuccino there, and, you know, Italians love coffee and they have these coffee drinking traditions and you can only drink cappuccino in the mornings and never after a meal!

Well, we were on a project week in Milan and my college mates and me went to this café, where we could drink some cappuccino and since I hadn’t tasted it then, I decided to give it a try.

I have never loved that coffee that my mother and aunt and everyone else drank, because it was too bitter and too hard for me and, besides, I was just a child and they wasnt' really allowed to have coffee. Well, they just let me take a little sip from their mugs but nothing more.

So being there in Milan made me interested in tasting some cappuccino, which I liked very much and I was like “why I didn’t try it earlier? ” and then I started drinking cappuccino from time to time.

When I went back to Georgia, there were these small envelopes of cappuccino from MacCoffee and Jacobs Monarchand other brands and I bought them and drank those cappuccinos. It was pretty good in taste and I really recommend buying them when you just want to drink a cup of delicious cappuccino. Of course, there are some cans with cappuccino mix too and you can buy them and prepare them at home deciding how many spoons of it you will use in your cup for cappuccino drink, but I would say that those small envelopes are better. One of the reasons why I prefer them, is that you can take them wherever you want and drink them there. They are pretty efficient, you know.

Drinking cappuccino in Milan

We went on a tour in Milan last year and it was my first time in Milan. If you want to know the truth I was pretty excited about that, because I knew that it was a large city and a beautiful one and I just wanted to see it and sightsee it.

However, we were supposed to be there on a project week and we would have lots of things to do there and well, of course we would have had some free time to get out of the building and see the city and enjoy the Italian stuff there, but it would not have been that easy. Indeed when you are just a tourist visiting a city abroad with your friends you can get outside and get anywhere you want and see anything you want and take your time and without the need to hurry or things like that, but when you are on a project week, you have this plan and you can’t really disobey the rules of that plan, of course, because we were on a school project and we had to work on some charity and write some things and everything, so we had a little time for sightseeing and traveling around the city.

So we should have used all the free time we had to explore the city and enjoy the Italian scent there. I do really love Italian things; I mean, I love spaghetti and pizza and everything, and so I was really keen on tasting them there, or at least, tasting some pizza there. However, I didn’t really expect to taste coffee there, especially that cappuccino and, well, I didn’t even know anything about cappuccino at all, if you want to know the truth.

That day when we woke up and we should have had some breakfast, of course. So we went to the kitchen and saw some stuff there. There were some things which people usually eat at breakfast but me and my friend wanted to have something special and, well, something Italian.

Though we didn’t really know what we wanted. Then we noticed some croissants there and, sinceI love everything with some cream filling in it and those croissants were not plain (they had this chocolate cream filling inside), we decided to have them for breakfast.

We also wanted something else, because those croissants were not enough for us, to tell you the truth. So, when we thought about what we could have had with the croissants and we decided that we could have a drink and then my friend suggested having some cappuccinos with those croissants. Well, I have already told you that I was not that much of a coffee lover and I didn’t really know about that cappuccino taste and I kind of thought about it for some time and then I decided to have a cup of cappuccino, too.

It was then when I got to know that Italians drink cappuccino in the mornings at breakfast and not with meals and that this cappuccino was not meant to be drank after the morning, I mean, at lunch or especially at dinner, you know. That’s the “rule”, which Italians have as an habit and, I guess, they will be surprised to see you drinking cappuccino after morning and especially with a meal.

So, we had our small Italian breakfast in Milan with those chocolate cream filling croissants and cappuccino cups and we were really glad that we had them. Well, at least, I was pleased with my choice and I liked that cappuccino also because it was my first time tasting cappuccino and it was really good. After that I kind of got used to drink cappuccino in the mornings. It was like a habit for some time, however, it’s not good drinking coffee every time or every morning or whatever, especially, if you are not that old. I’m a teenager still, so I’m not that old and I don't have a job where I should be all active and things like that and in need of coffee, you know. So that's not that necessary for me to drink coffee in the mornings or anytime during the day. I’m just going to leave it for other years of my life, I guess.

About cappuccino

Well, cappuccino is an Italian drink, as I’ve already mentioned above and it’s a coffee drink, which is traditionally drunk in the morning without meals. It’s prepared with double espresso, hot milk and steamed milk foam, however, there are some different types of cappuccino suggested, if you want to know the truth. Some people use cream instead of milk and some add some cinnamon or chocolate powder to it.

There are these cappuccino envelopes in Tbilisi supermarkets, which I just found out about. In fact, my sister told me about them and then she bought them for me to taste them and I would say that they are pretty large, and they have this small envelopes stuck on them full of chocolate powder. So when you pour the cappuccino powder into your mug and fill it with hot water and stir, then you can open the other small envelope with chocolate powder and sprinkle it in the mug on that cappuccino of yours.

Well, it was pretty much delicious when I drank it, and it was really worth buying, so if you are in Tbilisi and decide to have some cappuccino for yourself, you can buy those envelopes: they cost somewhere about 50 Tetrisand are really good. You can even split one envelope into two portions, because the portion in one envelope is more than enough for one person but it all depends on you; some may like to have a bigger cup and some may like to split that envelope and have half of it, I guess.

Well, nowadays they have these espresso coffee machines, where you can make some espresso and then there’s this function to add hot milk and transform it into foam, which gives the cappuccino its characteristic look.

And then you can add some cinnamon or chocolate powder, even if chocolate powder is better, I guess, because I don’t really like the cinnamon taste. Well, to be honest, the chocolate powder doesn’t really give any real taste to the cappuccino drink itself, but you can still add it for the look, or maybe you can add some more chocolate powder to get the real taste of it in the cappuccino drink.

So, if you don’t have the espresso coffee machine and you don’t really want to bother about preparing cappuccino, you can always buy those envelopes of cappuccino and just pour some hot water on them and that is it! You can drink it at once.

There are some cappuccino envelopes, besides that one that I’ve told you about, and they are in supermarkets and, well, they are everywhere, I guess. There are these golden coloured envelopes of cappuccino in Spar supermarket and Foodmart supermarket, which I just saw recently. I haven’t tasted them yet, however, I have tasted all the other ones and they are pretty good, I can say. MacCoffee even has these two types of cappuccino, one is with vanilla and the other one is plain one: it’s called the “original one”.

Well, whichever cappuccino envelope you buy, there’s not that much of a difference between them, because they should have cappuccino taste, of course, and the cappuccino taste is mainly just one, as you know. So I recommend buying any of those cappuccinos, because they are all good in taste and they cost somewhere about 30 to 40 Tetris but it all depends on which supermarket you are buying them in. However, if you want something fancier or if you want to amaze your friends you should buy those large envelopes of cappuccino with the chocolate powder on them.

Anyways, that was about me tasting cappuccino in Milan and some things about the drink itself. I hope it was interesting for you and I hope, that if you haven’t tasted cappuccino yet, you will definitely taste it so that you can understand why I liked it. And don’t forget, that you should drink it in the morning as the Italian tradition!
