Let's move a little away from Medellin, staying in the Valley. Envigado, to the south, one of the richest municipals in the country is connected to the city by Metro and makes up part of the Metropolitan area. In the border between Medellin and Envigado, next to the Frontera shopping centre and the Ayurá station is the "Parque Ambiental Bosques de La Frontera" (Environmental Park Forest border-Cr 43A # 18 Sur): 30 square kilometres of wild tropics, full of exotic butterflies and loads of birds, and once in a while they sit quietly on your finger, the scene is set by the murmur of the gorge; Medellín in all the power of its spell, the Virgin Salvajez, beside the grey cacophony of the chariots.

A little more to the South is the Casa Museo Otraparte (Cr 43A # 27A Sur-11); museum, cultural centre and bar dedicated to the memory of Fernando Gonzáles. He was a writer, philosopher and diplomatic person of Envigado and an involuntary precursor of the avant-garde movement Nadaista. The Sorcerer of Otraparte, Gonzáles, gave his last residence to the Casa Museo, where, in the peninsula of Helechos in the middle of Hormigón, the people think and fantasise and talk and take.

Even more to the south, near to the river and the Envigado station, you will find the Estadio Polideportivo Sur (South Sports Stadium - Avenida Las Vegas # 46 Sur), the Engado Park (Cr 43 # 37 Sur) and nearby, the confidential Mango Park. It slips down a slope and when seated above a bank along its side, a glass of wine in hand, one looks twinkling, artificial lights, all to the south of the valley. Near to the park, the Son de la Loma (Cr 39 # 38S-62), a delicious bar for old Salsa, open in all of its fachades and gently caressed by the mountain breeze and the new "Cultural Débora Arango" park (Calle 37 Sur), with its public library.

Going up the Envigado hill, you will arrive at the "Fonda El Atravesado" (Cl 36 Sur # 23-122), which is a wonderful bar-viewpoint from whose wooden terrace you can see the same regions, playing "parqués" (table game of Colombia) and smoking weed, the entire Medellin is dominated. Then, it is sufficient to add some kilometres by car and go up the mountain a little there to find yourself in the true lack of civilisation, stop, seated in the middle of nothing, you have the whole city face to face and you return one on the very top. Medellín at sunset burns and everything in it shines. The stars of the sky and the electric stars below, and the Bridge of the South, in front of EAFIT, whose airy cables are dyed in the nights of green and blue lights.
