What is it like to live in Mannheim? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Mannheim is a city with a lot of students. That makes living there quite nice. I love the city because it is not that big with approximately 310. 000 inhabitants. You can reach almost all interesting places by bike or tram. The infrastructure and transportation network is really good.

In Mannheim there are several student residents available at a good price. I can recommend East Side Gallery or Speyerer Straße. It is great to live there, just five minutes away from the Rhine.

Mannheim has beautiful places and parks to visit. If you go there, do not miss the Wasserturm, Luisenpark and the two rivers.

What is the student lifestyle like in Mannheim?

Just great with many parties, bar crawling organized by students and a lot of activities like concerts, sports and culture

How much does it cost to live in Mannheim?

Living costs in Mannheim are quite okay. You get a nice flat for 250-300€, the bars and discotheques have several special offers. Partying in Mannheim is best at Wednesday and Thursday but also at the weekend.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Mannheim? Is there any advice you can give?

Students residents, I myself live in one. I can highly recommend East Side Gallery and Speyerer Straße. Contact the Studentenwerk Mannheim, they will help you.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The café Vienna is great. There a lot of students are gathering all the time. Don't miss the Filmriss and the Shooters'. My favorite dishes are milky rice and lasagnas.

What places would you recommend visiting in Mannheim?

Wasserturm, Rhine and Neckar, Paradeplatz, café Vienna, N1, Parties at the Schneckenhof, Beach bar, Havana's, Zimma, Shooters, Filmriss, Soho and some more.

What advice would you give future students heading to Mannheim?

Enjoy the life there! Especially during the summer it is great. Do a barbecue at the Neckar and in winter days go to the Christmas market near the Wasserturm and drink a hot chocolate at Café N1.
