How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
2 month for language courses, Language courses paid + accommodation paid + 400 euro per month pocket money.
What is the student lifestyle like in Mannheim?
Great! Though very quiet in the evenings during the week (after 20. 00).
Would you recommend the city and the University of Mannheim to other students?
Yes about the city. I can not speak about the University, since I was Goethe-Institut student.
What is the food like?
Good and for good prices.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Mannheim?
No, it was provided for me by DAAD.
How much does it cost to live in Mannheim?
I would say, in total (with accommodation), 700 euro is enough.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Yes.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Mannheim from your city?
By plane to Frankfurt and than ICE train.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Mannheim?
To Heidelberg (small town close to Mannheim).
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Mannheim?
I do not know. For fast food any Donner place.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Wasserturm, Central square, Rheinpark and Heidelberg.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Mannheim in the future?
Learn German!
