Why did you choose to go to Mannheim, Germany?

I wanted to improve my german and Mannheim is the only city that I could go in Germany. Just by chance.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I got the scholarship during 6 months, and the amount was around 450 euros per month. Nearly 250 euros of all went to rent and I spent the rest of it on living in Mannheim and travelling around.

What is the student lifestyle like in Mannheim?

It was so cool. Transportation really helps students to get any place in a shortest time as possible. University is located in the middle of the city and there are so many places to go shopping or eat or have some fun.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Mannheim to other students?

Yes, absolutely.

What is the food like?

There are so many Turkish Döner shops around Mannheim, not all of them are good but "Istanbul" and "Meydan" restaurants are the best and you can eat really delicious food over there. Both are located in the Marktplatz.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Mannheim?

It was a little bit difficult to find an accommodation because the demand is so much on the studentenwohnheims. But, still if you apply for them as early as possible, there would not cause so much problem for you, i think!

How much does it cost to live in Mannheim?

My scholarship is nearly enough for me. I spent around 500 euros per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Even if you don't know any German, Mannheim is still a good place to live. So many people can speak English very good. In time, you can get used to hear and also use german. And yes, there are very good language courses available in the uni.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Mannheim from your city?

By plane, of course. Using both Frankfurt and Stuttgart Airports are possible and easy to reach.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Mannheim?

I don't remember the names so much, but there are some places around the Hauptbahnhof.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Mannheim?

"Istanbul" and "Meydan" restaurants, and also "Cafe Vienna" is a very good place to eat something good.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Wasserturm, Mannheim University (schloss) and the church in the Marktplazt.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Mannheim in the future?

At first, Mannheim can be seen as a place which is not so attractive for you but at the end, you all will be so unhappy and reluctant to leave Mannheim. You would most probably like Mannheim and the life in there.
