Why did you choose to go to Mannheim, Germany?

Because the university has the reputation of being the best University in Germany and because is a central place, really good to travel to many different countries.

What is the student lifestyle like in Mannheim?

It's great. There are many students in Mannheim and many parties and activities.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Mannheim to other students?

Oh yes!

What is the food like?

The traditional food is not my favourite. But there are a lot of alternatives.

How did you find your accommodation?

I applied to an university residence through the university.

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

I payed 268€ for a room with shared bathroom and shared kitchen.

The prices are equal or even lower than I am used to in Portugal.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Everyone in Mannheim speaks English.

I had a German language course in the university (6 ECTS).

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Mannheim from your city?

Through Ryanair to Frankfurt-hann Airport and then get a bus there to Mannheim (20€).

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Mannheim?

Ritz, Zimmer, Tiffany, Zapatto, L3 and house parties.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Mannheim?

Café Vienna, is really cheap.

Mensa and EO.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

In Mannheim you can see the palace where the university is located, the watertower, and some churches.

There are a lot of concerts for free, for exemple every Monday in Alte Fewerbache there is jazz concerts for free.

You have to go to Heidelberg (15 min) by train and see the castle and the little city, is the tourist attraction in the area.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Mannheim in the future?

Enjoy it as much as you can since the very first minute!
