Why did you choose to go to Lund, Sweden?

Source

Lund university is one of the best in Scandinavia and they have an excellent physics and astronomy departments.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I received 450+200€ per month from the Erasmus grant. I also had a scholarship from my home country and a small loan.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lund?

Really good, though I spent most of my time studying.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lund to other students?

Definitely.

What is the food like?

I cooked every day, the food elsewhere is ridiculously expensive compared to my home country, and I couldn't afford it. The prices of groceries are expensive, but not unreasonable.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lund?

I got accomodation through LU accomodation, I asked for the cheapest one and that's what I got (Sparta international). It cost roughly 2200SEK per month. It was terrible (extremely dirty, 3 toilets per 20 people, horrible kitchen) and I wouldn't recommend it. Try finding something around 3000SEK/month, that should get you a lot better room.

How much does it cost to live in Lund?

Depends on how much you spend for accomodation, I think I spent around 650€/month, maybe less. For food I spent around 1500SEK/month, buying everything at Willys and Lidl, and cooking at home. Going out at the nations is not that expensive.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

Everybody speaks English, often better than native English speakers.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lund from your city?

Plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lund?

Sure.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Lund?

No, I'm poor.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The whole town looks great, Copenhagen is only 45min by train, definitely worth a visit.

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Lund?

Find accomodation as soon as possible, preferably through LU accomodation. Don't hesitate spending a bit more on a bike (around 800SEK), you can easily sell it after the semester. I bought a shitty bike and I regret it.
