Erasmus Experience in Lund (Sweden), by Martina
Why did you choose to go to Lund, Sweden?
Because the researcher I worked with was from Lund.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I lived there for 3 months and they paid me 1200€ per month.
What is the student lifestyle like in Lund?
The university is fantastic, working there is fine and the atmosphere is great. Students help you a lot and the whole city is thought for students.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Lund to other students?
Of course!
What is the food like?
Food isn’t one of its strength. There are few burger, kebab and italian restaurants. Cake shops are fine and restaurants are good. Though they’re expensive, they’re worth a visit.
Was it difficult to find accommodation in Lund?
Finding accommodation in Lund is hard, I would say it’s the most difficult task.
How much does it cost to live in Lund?
A room could cost about 300-500€/month.
What about the language? Did you attend any Swedish course at the university?
There’s a free course for foreigners but everybody speaks perfect English.
What's the most economical way to travel to Lund from your city?
You can go to Copenhagen or Malmö airport and, once there, take a train to Lund Central which may costs 14€.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lund?
Book an AirBnb. It’s the cheapest.
And for eating in Lund? Can you name your favorite places?
A few pubs, the most typical are Gloria or Bishop.
What about a cultural visit?
The university and the old library are really beautiful. The cathedral is a must-see, and the botanical garden and the catacombs are great too, as well as the different churches all over the city.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lund in the future?
You should get the bus/train card, it’s called Jojo Card and it can be used for both means of transport. The transport agency is Skanetrafiken and there’s one of its office next to the train station. Getting a card is the only way to travel with public transport since you can’t pay for a trip with money in buses/trains.
