ZOO Ljubljana is the only ZOO in the country of Slovenia, and it is situated in the capital city Ljubljana, near the Rožnik hill (which is a popular place for jogging and for having a walk among locals).

Much of Entertainment

The ZOO has plenty of entertainment for kids, such as bungee trampolines, slides, climbing walls and so on. They also offer some cool souvenir shops with cute fluffy monkeys which you can hang anywhere.

All Types of Animals

In the ZOO Ljubljana, you will see all of the typical animals that you see in other ZOOs. It was recently renovated and the habitats are kids – friendly with glass windows on the high fences, funny signs that explain everything about a certain animal, and the petting area, where kids can go inside the habitat (with a supervisor) and pet more friendly animals, such as goats, sheeps and others.

There are no animal shows going on in the ZOO, but some animals are very entertaining even without the show. For example, monkeys have a special playground and there is a glass wall around it in some places, so you can see what they are doing inside.

Escaping animals

The ZOO Ljubljana is especially occasionally famous for animals that escape from the ZOO and wander around the streets nearby. I am not sure how this happens, but last year, two wolves escaped when they were cleaning their place and they hardly caught them again. But at least no tigers have escaped yet!
