Veleblagovnica Nama

Veleblagovnica Nama is probably the most fashionable shopping centre in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana.

What I found especially interesting about Veleblagovnica Nama is, that they also have an online shop, which works in two ways: you can choose the clothes that you want and they deliver them to your home, or you can choose clothes and then pick them up in the store. Although, in my opinion, online clothing shops are somehow killing the spirit of the real shopping.

Another thing that I loved there, are the personal stylists on the clothing departments. And the consultation is completely for free, yo take your chance!

On assigned days of the week, you can get a free make – up that suits your face the best. Almost every day, they are presenting a different type of cosmetics, and if you decide to buy one or more things that are in the promotion, after you got the free make – up, you will receive ten percent discount. Comes in handy with some more expensive brands.

How to orientate inside the shopping centre?

The Veleblagovnica Nama is divided to nine floors and on each floor, there is a different department. Yes, it is huge, as you will see in the addition of this entry. Oh, and there are escalators, so you do not have to walk nine floors up the stairs.

On the ground floor, you will find the cosmetics department. As I have mentioned before, you can get a free make – up there. On this floor, you can find every possible brand of cosmetics that you can think of, even a lipstick for almost fifty Euros. This floor is also a home for perfumes, and the part where they are, is huge. But, if you decide to try some perfumes, you will definitely get a headache, because all of the people are doing this, and therefore, there is a very strong smell in the air.

The first floor is the home of women's clothing. Here, you can find literally everything for literally all tastes – from the latest fashion trends, fancy dresses, to sporting clothes. The price range varies a lot, because there are a lot of expensive brands, but also ordinary ones for a price that everybody can afford. The sports department is somehow divided from the other clothing items, and they are also sorted by brand. I have noticed, that all of the other clothes are sorted by the same way – by brands. This can be useful if you are only buying specific brands.

On the second floor, you will find clothes and all kinds of items for babies and older kids, too. I am not a guest of this floor very often (yet), so I cannot tell you anything about the things that they are selling. But there are always a lot of people buying stuff there, so I guess that the quality must be quite good.

On the third floor, there is the underwear department, both for men and women. Check it out, you will definitely won't regret! Besides the 'ordinary' underwear, you can even find more vintage pieces, like granny panties, push up panties and stuff like that. Good for taking pictures and laughing, at least.

The fourth floor offers fashion accessories for all styles and desires. They are selling every possible item, from golden ones to the cheap plastic stuff. There is also a section just for body piercing, made out of quality materials, and there is also a member of staff which is accepting appointments for the famous piercing studio nearby.

On the fifth floor, there is a section with home stuff, which is divided into two parts. In one part, you can find smaller items for decorating your home, and the other part has bigger items like sofas and wardrobes.

The sixth floor offers a wide selection of food, mostly ecological. However, it is pretty expensive and not many people are buying it there. But, if you buy food there for value more that thirty – five Euros, you get a fifteen percent discount, which you can spend on your next purchases for more than thirty – five Euros value.

On the seventh floor, there is a men's clothing department.

The eighth floor offers the newest technology items and useful gadgets. I think that most of the people come to this floor not to buy anything, but simply to check out all of the cool stuff that they are selling there. I will list only some of the gadgets, the ones that were the most interesting to me:

  • Solar phone case: believe it or not, they have them for most of the brands, not only for iPhones and Samsung Galaxies. So, when your phone is inside this case and you are on the sun, it will charge the battery. I find this extremely useful for travellers. And they are not as expensive as I expected when I saw them. The price was twenty – five Euros for one case.
  • Oculus rift: glasses that allow you a threedimensional experience in e. g. videogaming. If you are a PewDiePie fan, you definitely know them. I have tried them for a horror game and it is amazing how real everything looks like. But they cost over five hundred Euros.
  • Glasses that simulate being drunk: definitely the most fun ones, although they also cost over five hundred Euros. But they could be a very fun accessory for parties. When you look through them, everything looks fogged and blurry. They also built a small poligon on the place – you have to walk straight on the line (Impossible! But hilarious to watch others), pich up the tennis ball and other tasks, that seem easy, but they are not.

And finally, there is the famous Club Top on the ninth floor, which makes it the very top of the building. Guess where the nightclub got its name from. One reason is its location, and another reason is that only top people are going there.

What is the best way to get there?

The Veleblagovnica nama is situated very close to the main train and bus station in Ljubljana, so if you take this station as your starting point, you can easily reach it by walking, which will take you about fifteen minutes. All you have to do is to walk the straight line at the main street, so there is no way that you will get lost. The street, where Veleblagovnica Nama is situated, is called Tomšičeva Ulica (Tomšič's street).

When can I go there?

Veleblagovnica Nama is open everyday in the week. From Monday to Saturday, you can enjoy shopping there from nine in the morning to nine in the evening. On Sundays, your shopping time will be a bit shorter, but there is still plenty of time, because on Sundays, Veleblagovnica Nama is opened from ten in the morning to six in the evening. The bar inside the shopping centre is open everyday from seven in the morning to seven in the evening, so you can actually enter the shopping centre earlier, but the departments will still be closed. If you are hungry because of all the shopping, you can have a quick meal at the restaurant, which is situated right next to the bar, and is open from ten in the morning to five in the evening every day.

Club Top

The top floor of Veleblagovnica Nama is the home of the famous Club Top, which is probably the most famous nightclub in Ljubljana, where many celebrities go partying. Therefore, they have a very strict dress code, and sometimes a guest list, so not everyone can enter. What I like about this nightclub, is, that they only let the limited number of people inside, so it is not like in some other nightclubs, where everything is so crowded. The Club Top is making excellent parties, also the themed ones.

They are playing an excellent dance music, and sometimes, they also host some wider known DJs. As you have probably guessed, the entrance fee is ridiculously expensive. It does depend on the event, but in general, it costs about twenty – five Euros for an ordinary ticket, and up to five hundred Euros for a VIP event. And if you choose the VIP version, you do not get any drinks included in price. I know many nightclubs, where you get at least a bottle of champagne included. Also the prices of the drinks are very high there. A bottle of water costs amazing five Euros! If you would like to drink wine, you will pay approximately four Euros for 2dl. Shots will cost you from three to seven Euros, depending on the drink.

To sum up, Veleblagovnica Nama is an excellent way to spend a rainy or foggy day in Ljubljana and do some shopping. Nama is not the biggest shopping center in Ljubljana but definitely the one with a great spirit.
