What is it like to live in Lima? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Lima is one of the most beautiful experiences. Peru as a whole is full with customs and culture based on Maya believes. Lima has the perfect weather for me because its humidity is perfect but it is mainly cloudy. You have acces to the beach, peruvian restaurants, but also a lot of american restaurants (ex. Pizza Hut, KFC or McDonalds) if you get tired of sea food which by the way is to die for. There are parts of Lima that has dangerous or not so nice areas, as every country or city I've been to, such as Gamarra or the airport area. The best areas near the beach are Barranco, which is really artistic, Miraflores, san Isidro or Chorrilos.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lima?

The student life is beautiful. You meet people from different countries that study for the gastronomy. As always if you want to have good grades you have to study hard which involves not going out a lot. But once in a while the parties are awesome! There is this thing they drink called Pisco Sour kind of tastes like Singani but Peruvians love their alcohol!

How much does it cost to live in Lima?

Lima is an expensive city where 100 dollars are 330 soles (the peruvian coin) you can have a meal for 50 to 60 soles which is pretty expensive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lima? Is there any advice you can give?

Not at all. Lima has hundreds of hotels, hostels, houses for backpackers it is such a turistic country that you have everything at your disposal. I always find easier to book hotels trough Booking. People are really nice and they are willing to help with everything.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I have no words. I study manage hotels and restaurants so gastronomy is one of my passions. Sea food, sea food, sea food. Lima is known for its ceviche which is all kinds of raw fish with a lime sauce, a piece of sweet potatoe and a lot of onions. There is another plate called papas a la huancaina which are potatoes with a peanut spicy sauce. Latin american love spicy things so get ready for that. There is another dish called Causa which is smashed potatoes with cream cheese and avocados. And another one which is like a sweet potato tart that has smashed sweet potatoes and chicken.

What places would you recommend visiting in Lima?

You should visit Barranco, Miraflores, San Isidro, Chorrilos. There is a beach called Playa de las sombrillas, which is one of the few beaches with sand while most of the other ones have rocks and their hurt a lot! If you have the oppotunity to surf that is one big thing in Lima. You can go to the museums, the cathedral, the Jockey Mall. But if you have the opportunity to leave Lima go to Cuzco. It is gorgeous!

Yes! Eating out is delicious but expensive. My favorite place is in Chorrillos. There are a lot of little restaurants, they are the best!

The nightlife in any latin country is to die for. There are a lot of clubs in Chacarilla MUTE, MAMÁ BATATA, MIA CLUB, ZUKHA and others but those are the best.
