What is it like to live in Leuven? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

The most people that live in Leuven are students. Also Leuven is rather a small city. The most things you can reach by walking. But there is also a very good bus system.

What is the student lifestyle like in Leuven?

I think Leuven is one of the best cities for students. Most shops give student discount. Also the student nightlife is very nice. There is a square with bars. But every faculty has his own bar, and those bars are cheaper.

No, you always can find a room. The university has a special department that helps the students to find anything. As a foreign student you can apply for a room in a residence from the university.

Yes! There are many good restaurants in Leuven. One of my favourite spot is 'Domus'. It is not that cheap but it's typical Beglian food. Another good restaurant where a lot of students go is 'De Werf'.

Is the nightlife good in Leuven? Where is good to go?

Yes! As I told earlier there is a square filled with bars. But some of them are rather expensive. So you can also go to the 'Fakbars'. These are bars from the faculties. You can only go inside if you show your student card and those bars are cheap. €1 for a beer

What advice would you give future students heading to Leuven?

Enjoy and take a rain coat! Don't be afraid if you don't speak Dutch. Everybody understands English.
