Why did you choose to go to Leuven, Belgium?

For the University but also because Leuven is primary a student city, small and compact.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship was for 1 semester (5 months) and my stipend was 450 euros per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Leuven?

In one word - great! Lots of opportunities for students to study and hang out and places to combine those two - Pangea :) . During the week there are faculty parties (best ones are in the fak bar letteren) and Bars in the center to visit. The weekends are very calm, all local student go home and exchanges go and discover the rest of Belgium.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Leuven to other students?

Yes, it's a perfect student city.

What is the food like?

The food is mostly fries and beer. And the two are best in the world, so it's all good.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Leuven?

No, the student housing office is very helpful.

How much does it cost to live in Leuven?

I was lucky and got an dorm room and payed around 280 euros a month for a single room (a very good deal). Private accommodation is around 350.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The courses are readily available, but I didn't take part in them. Only picked out greeting and such during my stay.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Leuven from your city?

I live in Estonia so, flying is recommended.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Leuven?

Fak bars, oude markt and after 5am - the seven oaks.
And definitely a student cantus is something everybody should experience at least once.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Leuven?

Apple, next to the city library - best pasta in town.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The library and central town. M Museum, haverlee park stc.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Leuven in the future?

It's a vibrant city and if you let loos and are outgoing your bound to have a good time.
