Why did you choose to go to Leuven, Belgium?

Well, I wanted to go as far away from home as possible. But browsing internet I found out more about Leuven so I decided to go there. I didnt regret for a moment!

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I received 400 euros per month. But it wasnt enough to cover all of my expences. I needed an extra of 300 euros.

What is the student lifestyle like in Leuven?

Its very vivid, crowded with students and young people, offering an international atmosphere and loads of fun!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Leuven to other students?

Definitely! Its a small town which comes as an advantage when in 3am you have to go home from a night out. No traffic jams and you find in big cities and you can move everywhere by bike. University is very good, well organized and with lovely staff. Professors I met were experts and sooo helpful and nice to me.

What is the food like?

Cafeteria food is not that good. I mostly cooked my own food.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Leuven?

No, university service helped me to find a place for free.

How much does it cost to live in Leuven?

300-400 euros for a kot room and maybe 300 euros for life expenses - but this is very individual

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

It is very international and everyone speaks english. Cheap and good Dutch courses are offered as well as some other language courses.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Leuven from your city?

Ryan air.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Leuven?

City center. So many good bars! If you dont like one 3 meters away there is another!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Leuven?

Didn't eat out much...

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Breweries :) Belgium is small and with good train connections so cultural sightseeing I did mostly out of Leuven - Brugge, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Oostende, Brussels...great advantage of Belgium

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Leuven in the future?

Dont hesitate when it comes to Leuven, its a great place. I loved it :) And go to pub crawls and kantuses - it will be unforgettable :)
