Why did you choose to go to Leuven, Belgium?
The Erasmus Mundus programme that I chosen was co-ordinated by KULeuven, so coming to Leuven was'nt my choice.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I did'nt receive any scholarship. But from what I have heard from others, the scholarship amount is around 600euros for the entire 2 years masters.
What is the student lifestyle like in Leuven?
Leuven is a student city, and like any other university, it is fun filled through out the academic year. However, most of the Belgian students go back home on weekends and hence dorms and streets look empty on a typical weekend. But then, we have dedicated cycling lanes, so enthusiasts can have a nice time with the surroundings.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Leuven to other students?
Yep, definitely.
What is the food like?
Iam a veggie, so not much of an option.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Leuven?
The KULeuven housing department helped me with finding a room at the student resident, so no not much.
How much does it cost to live in Leuven?
500-600 euros depending on your spendings and lifestyle.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?
Yes, people speak English everywhere.
But in order to have a feeling of resident in Leuven, it is good to learn Nederlands.
Nederlands is heel interessant..:)
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Leuven from your city?By plane till Brussels, and the train to Leuven.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Leuven?
Grote Markt, Oude Markt.
Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Leuven?
It is a fun-filled place for any international student. Enjoy your stay at Leuven.
