Cuisine and Slovenia
Cuisine and Slovenia
Slovenia is a wonderful country which is so green and naturalistic during the summer season. It is located at the southern central Europe bordering four European countries: Austria in the north, Italy in the west, Hungary in the northeast, Croatia in the south and southeast, and the Adriatic Sea in the southwest.
Since the country is mostly covered with trees and mountains this is a nice place for trekking, climbing, hiking, walking and also for food. I would say that I tried the best food while I was staying in Slovenia. It has different types of food with the combination of Italian, Hungary, Austrian and Croatian cuisines. This country is very famous for roasted potatoes, meat and the mix of European dishes such as various kinds of porridge, stew, one-pot meals, pork, soup, roasted meat (goose, duck, turkey, mutton, pork or chicken) and for desserts.
I had an opportunity to enjoy roasted pork with roasted potatoes, chicken and mushroom soup and a sweet Turkish dessert. It was amazing and so tasty. I spent around 30 euros for all three plates but I should say that it is worth to spend since it was too much for me to eat. If you go there, while enjoying the cities and nature do not forget to enjoy these meals because they are amazing.
If you wish to go for lunch then my advice is to go a bit early since they close the restaurants around 2:00 p. m. after serving the lunch for guests. Even though the restaurant is open they might not offer all the types of dishes after that time.
