What is it like to live in Koper? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Koper is for European circumstances very small city it has only 25000 inhabitants. It is very cosy it has everything on a small place, you can reach everything by foot so it is very good to live there. Even though it is small you can get there shopping centres, cinemas, sports centers, cultural events, many restaurants, etc. The city is also located by the sea, so in the summer time you can go to the beach, also surfing if there is enough wind. The sea is very warm, so at the end of the May you can already swim.

What is the student lifestyle like in Koper?

It is quite ok. It is not that wild like in Ljubljana where are much more disco clubs, but still every week is something going on. There are also lots of activities during the day, like sports or picnics in some faculties. You can also get discounts on some activities.

How much does it cost to live in Koper?

It corresponds to Slovenian standard. So it is not that expensive. If I compare it to Madrid, it is a little bit cheaper. For students it is quite cheep because in Slovenia students have vouchers for food. You get as may of that as it is working days in month. You can benefit them in almost all of the restaurants. From Mc Donald to kebabs, pizzas or regular restaurants. You pay for a voucher from 70 cents to max 4. 5 euros (it depends on restaurant), the rest is paid by the Slovenian government and you get a meal for that money with soup, main course, salad and desert, or fast food, for lower price.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Koper? Is there any advice you can give?

There are dorms and also you can stay in apartments. For Slovenian people it is not difficult at all, but I don't know how is for Erasmus students.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There are many restaurants with European food and also with sea food. Here there are not like typical Slovenian restaurants, but you get all kind of them: Chinese, Mexican... My favourite in Koper is Mexican restaurant.

There is nice walking path Škocijanski Zatok, also the promenade in the center is nice and all of the narrow streets around the center.

Is it good to eat out in Koper? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is good. I was never disappointed.

Is the nightlife good in Koper? Where is good to go?

The most people are going in Tuš Planet Koper. It is a big shopping centre with bowling place, which it turns into a disco in the night time.

What advice would you give future students heading to Koper?

If somebody expects that there are classes in English, there are not. You visit classes, but they are in Slovenian, at the end you have a review with a teacher. The literature must be in English and usually your exams are MUCH easier than exams of regular students.
