The first place I visited when I came to Turkey was Istanbul which is the biggest economical city of Turkey and we can call it the most important city.

It's a mix between the modern and history. I'm sure no one can feel bored there because Istanbul doesn't sleep, you can find people 24/7 in the streets and all transportations working all time.

I can provide some information about the education level at the Universities there, it's high and you can find a lot of reputational Universities with high ranking in the world such as: Istanbul University, Bogazici University, Marmara University, etc.

You can find a huge number of international students studying there, as well as a lot of foreigners who work or have their own projects, so don't feel strange when you hear a lot of people who speak different languages in the city.

Also, I can provide some information about the tourism there and some famous touristic places that all the world dream to visit it once at least. Recently, Istanbul has the biggest airport in Europe which means a million of travellers who make check-in to Istanbul and in recent years most of Russian, Ukrainian and European citizens started preferring Turkey in general and especially Istanbul to go on their summer holidays. No one come to Istanbul and leave without visiting some important places such as: Sultan Ahmet Mosque, Camlica Mosque, Gülhane Park, Aya Sofia Museum, Galata Tower, Istiklal Street, Taksim Square, Princes' Islands and too many other places which make the background of Istanbul.

I can say that Istanbul is considered as an expensive city and like many other European cities in the last five years it was so hard for people who live there, because of the bad economic situation of the country besides the inflation and low wages. So, anyone want to visit this city for holiday or even to study you should bring enough money to be able to live.

As much as I talked about Istanbul, it will not be enough because of the huge number of important and interesting things I saw there, but I just tried to provide new Erasmus exchange students who will go there some simple information which could be helpful to them.
