New Friendships in Istanbul

Just a year ago me and my two friends were walking around the Istiklal Street which is one of the most beautiful places of Istanbul. We were just watching the people walking across the street. Then I just heard a music from somewhere. Accually this is not an anomaly for Istiklal Street because there are countless of amateur artists which sings along the road. But that music had a different soul than the others. Me and my mates got curious and went over there. A huge group of listeners were watching the singers. When we reached them one of them gave me the paper which has the lyrics of the song they were singing. With my music hearing and some English knowledgement I started to sing the song with them. After we singed for a while be made a break and I had the chance to talk. I learned that this group of them includes a German, English and a Yugoslavian which comes to Istanbul via the Erasmus Programme.

They met in a meeting party right after they come to Istanbul and with their all intense to music they just wanted to start something like this. They wouldn't want money with anyhow from anyone for the music they were making. They just sing their songs and by making themselves fun and making all the people fun which walking down the street. After one hour of musical fest we had a little more conversation and I learned they will be singing in the same spot for the next three days. Next days I went to there for listening to them and after a while I was just passing the song lyrics to people listening to us just like they gave me the first time. After their fourth day we had a dinner together and we said goodbye to eachother as maybe not to see us ever again. Then I just started to tell this story to my friends while they pass to another country and live the same way. From that day Erasmus become my only dream and I highly recommend to anyone who has a chance to go.
