What is it like to live in Istanbul? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and according to Wikipedia 5th largest one in the world. Once it takes time for you to get used to live in. Rules are ignored by people mostly in traffic. Many things work in a chaotic way here. If you get used to this all, Its the most exciting city to live and study too. It has historical and modern shopping malls, business and cultural life, many great universities and more...

What is the student lifestyle like in Istanbul?

I think Students are the luckiest part of society in Istanbul. It provides many great libraries, book stores. On the otherhand, Its very popular here erasmus parties and nigth life is wonderful for youngesters.

How much does it cost to live in Istanbul?

Istanbul provides you to find both cheap or expensive things which you need to. You can find both cheap and/or expensive rooms. Cost of life depends on your preferance though mostly tourist say its getting expensive in Istanbul.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Istanbul? Is there any advice you can give?

No, there are many single rooms and appartments. Mecidiyekoy is the best for young employees and students I think. Beşiktaş, Kadıköy, Beyoğlu, Fatih and Şişli are central parts of Istanbul too.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Perfect... Turkish cousine has wide range foods and I think restaurants are cheap in respect of quality. I like all them.

What places would you recommend visiting in Istanbul?

Maiden Tower, Princess Islands, Old City, Beyoğlu, etc.

Is it good to eat out in Istanbul? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, There are many ones. 5th floor restuarant right behind Alman Hospital.

Is the nightlife good in Istanbul? Where is good to go?

Perfect, Asmalimescit...

What advice would you give future students heading to Istanbul?

I think first thing you need to learn is how to ignore rules or which one you should ignore... In your first week, carefully observe people... good luck.
