What is it like to live in Istanbul? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Istanbul is a rush city. This is where you experience too much fun. It's near the sea and during summer the beaches are a favorite spot.

There's traffic mostly in the evenings and early mornings due to people heading to and from work. An alternative is using the metro bus that is quite cheap for students. It has no traffic as metro buses have their own way. I would totally recommend living in Istanbul. It's an old city and many old structures are still available, like the blue mosque, in short Sultan Ahmet area is the prominent tourist attraction site.

What is the student lifestyle like in Istanbul?

Student life is cheap in Istanbul. Likei mentioned earlier, students are mostly given discounts on major public facilities like transport and entry to museums, as long as you prove your student status. There are many parties in the weekends, you'll have what we call the night of your life. students can be employed to work part time in restaurants. It's a good deal for those who want to earn extra pocket money.

How much does it cost to live in Istanbul?

Istanbul is quite cheap, because of presence of local shops like the bazaars, food prices begin from 1Turkish Lira. Houses are fairly priced.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Istanbul? Is there any advice you can give?

No it is not. Many real estate managements have their sites on Google so it's just a click away and getting the contact list. I would advice Toya Company.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Turkish food generally is appetising. It's healthy first of all. Breakfast is mostly served with veggies and tea. I like the doner, çiğ köfte is also quite appetising.

The blue mosque, kilyos beach, Istanbul Aquarium, the Grand Bazaar, Princes island that is located one hour away from the mainland Istanbul, Sultan Ahmet in General.

Is it good to eat out in Istanbul? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes it's good to eat out in. Mado has the best ice cream and pasta, for chicken I would recommend Tavuk Dunyasi.

Is the nightlife good in Istanbul? Where is good to go?

The night life in Istanbul is AMAZING!. you can party in Taksim and jump from club to club then end the night in Princes island, or for those who are too tired, houses for rent per night are available. Eskici Pera, for African Music Afro club is available.

What advice would you give future students heading to Istanbul?

If you want freedom at its best don't live in the dormitories. It's a Muslim country so they restrict entry of opposite gender. Just rent a house near school. It's not too expensive. Make sure to come with an open mind, because it's a different environment.
