What is it like to live in Istanbul? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Istanbul is a very beautiful city where history, old cultures and modern life joined together. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It gives you also much more ability to do something you want then most of the other Erasmus cities. There are numerous places to see and travel in the city. You can find limitless of entertainment if you are good at exploring new places. There are a lot of tourists and students in the city whole summer and winter season.

What is the student lifestyle like in Istanbul?

Full of fan!

How much does it cost to live in Istanbul?

350-400€. If you want to stay alone in a nice, cosy flat and with your daily needs, you need to spend 500€ to get along with living in Istanbul.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Istanbul? Is there any advice you can give?

Airbnb, Sahibinden.com, hurriyetemlak.com are websites to find flat for rent. And there are real estate offices all around the city.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There is noone who came to Istanbul and cannot find something to eat. Istanbul is the best place to eat almost everything.

What places would you recommend visiting in Istanbul?

I recommend to use trip advisor app. :). Old city, Sultanahmet, Beyazıt, Eminönü, Prince Islands, Palaces, bosphorous, Kadıköy, Moda, Caddebostan, Bebek, İstinye, Sarıyer, Kilos, Riva, etc.

Is it good to eat out in Istanbul? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Döner, pide, İskender, kebap, ottoman dishes and Mediterranean plates are very good. You can them in every places in the city.

Is the nightlife good in Istanbul? Where is good to go?

Beyoğlu, Kadıköy, Bakırköy, Beşiktaş are nice places to go at night.

What advice would you give future students heading to Istanbul?

Came and live in Istanbul. You will enjoy it!
