Just get lost anywhere through Bosphorus or between Eminonu and Eyup.. Enjoy the atmosphere of the old city...
Is it good to eat out in Istanbul? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes, Kitchenette is my favorite. Peripetie Bistro Cafe is also superb! But discover it yourself as everybody has different tastes.
Is the nightlife good in Istanbul? Where is good to go?
Taksim, Beyoglu. I recommend Cafe Peripetie at Bekar Sokak on Istiklal Street. They have amazing dishes and drinks and a friendly atmosphere for Erasmus students.
What advice would you give future students heading to Istanbul?
The best way to get to know a city especially Istanbul is getting lost in it. Make sure you do it with a friend and at a reasonable time.. Not after 12:00 at night ;) good luck!

€1500 a month??? You must have misspelled it. A student can comfortably afford the cost of living in istanbul for 400 € a month or less depend on the accommodation price.If 4 students rent a house together in Beşiktaş (where the rents are so high),the rental would be around 200 € per person.
