What is it like to live in Istanbul? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Istanbul is a dynamic city to explore different cultures of the world, Istanbul is vey beautiful city, it has all the modern facilities, people are very friendly and the food is great. Specially It has a lot of opportunities for students who are interested in Arts, they can learn and grow all the field of arts. the best thing is Istanbul is the culture, it is a combination of western and eastern values, which can give a broad experience in their future carriers.
What is the student lifestyle like in Istanbul?
it has great potential for students because of its education institutes who are trying to come in line with the world leading universities, the teachers are professional and the local students are competitive and co-operative.
How much does it cost to live in Istanbul?
A room costs from 200 to 300 euros a month.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Istanbul? Is there any advice you can give?
it is very easy to find accommodation, there are a number of websites, like Airbnb, couchsurfing, craigslist, by wich you can find a room in a shred flat.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food is very delicious and have a large variety, my favorite is traditional Turkish one.
What places would you recommend visiting in Istanbul?
many places like Fateh, uskudder, kadokoy, takseem, kabatsh, all excellent.
Is it good to eat out in Istanbul? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
yes I always eat outside, takseem has the most hotels, but you can find any where, locanta is for restaurant in Turkish language, but any restaurant with this name is for traditional food and it is very cheap and tasty.
Is the nightlife good in Istanbul? Where is good to go?
night life is also excellent, you can find a lot of bars in takseem, kabatash and fateh area.
What advice would you give future students heading to Istanbul?
There is no fear to come to Istanbul, they can find accommodation on airbnb but take it for two to three days first and then you can find here a suitable accommodation on craigslist, or with your fellow colleagues. you will get student card with is discounted transportation price, don't forget to visit other areas in turkey as well, they are more beautiful than Istanbul.
