Experience in Istanbul, Turkey by Fanta
What is it like to live in Estambul? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
First at All Istanbul is a great big city and crowded. It’s also a beautiful city, to live there you should be prepare because everything is money there and it’s also the biggest expensive city in Turkey. To live there it can be difficult or easy, if you have money or a work it can be more easier for them than for students. And Personally I do not recommend Istanbul for students. People who will come to turkey as students or studying should choose another city which can be more comfortable and adequate for them it can be Kayseri, Adana, Izmir, Antalya, samsum, bodrum etc.....because Istanbul can be so expensive for them.
What is the student lifestyle like in Estambul?
Student lifestyle in Istanbul is so difficult even if they do some reductions for them like bus tickets etc..... but life’s still difficult for them. In addition their is no job for them. Generally in Turkey in all cities students don’t have any job contrats they don’t have any regluration for that in their university or in others place. So it mean that students should be prepared before to come in Turkey or in Istanbul.
How much does it cost to live in Estambul?
Well the cost living in Istanbul is very very expensive because everything is expensive there more than the rest of his cities. I think this is dues of its capital position.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Estambul? Is there any advice you can give?
Well Istanbul accommodation issue is a very good question. So by answering this question I will say that it’s very very difficult to find a house in Istanbul mostly if you are black or if you have black skin. It can also be a little bit difficult for others nationally or foreigners. They always say that they do not give their house to foreigners but if you are lucky you can also find an accommodation. And if I have to give any advice I will just say that for students who will come in Turkey or in Istanbul can just stay in the university campus is the easiest way for them to find an accommodation. And the most of their campus are in the universities so students do not have to take bus or taxis to go to school and they can save that money for something else.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Well the food are like normal food because all of the food are mostly made or eating with breads and their is bread in every country. And they have they own food or soup. And my favourite dishes is Named ISKENDER is bread with meat and is so delicious.
What places would you recommend visiting in Estambul?
Well in Istanbul their are many many places to visit like their tourist place and historical places like Panorama( where in Ottoman Empire period how and where they fought to get their independence), their museums etc......
Is it good to eat out in Estambul? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes is good to eat out in Istanbul but not all the time. You can eat somethings with your friends or family but not all the time because outside food are little bite expensive more than if you eat at home. And also their is too much oil in Turkish food. Well my favorite spots are their PARONAMA, museums, amusement parks and their geological park.
Is the nightlife good in Estambul? Where is good to go?
For my opinion No the nightlife is not good and safe in Istanbul because the rates of rape of girls in Istanbul or Turkey is too high. More now Istanbul is not safe their can be an attempt everywhere and everything time. But you can also go out in the night but not in the late hours you can go to cinema, park for distraction, restaurant, or club.
What advice would you give future students heading to Estambul?
Well the advice that I can give to the future students heading to Istanbul or coming to Istanbul is to be careful with Turkish people. Mostly girls should be careful with Turkish boys because they can be so violence.
