Why did you choose to go to Istanbul, Turkey?

I chose to go to Istanbul because I wanted to have a different experience to the one we are used to in other Western European countries. Istanbul is a muslim country with a rich culture.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I am spending from September till January and I received 1000 euros.

What is the student lifestyle like in Istanbul?

Very busy.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Istanbul to other students?

I would certainly recommend it.

What is the food like?

The food is not the best thing of Istanbul even though bread is really great. The restaurants are not the best in my opinion. The food doesn't have much flavour.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Istanbul?

No. It was quite easy. Find a page on Facebook with rooms for rent.

How much does it cost to live in Istanbul?

For me it was 200 euros per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, there are courses. However, for me it's hard to learn it. The sounds are hard.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Istanbul from your city?

By plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Istanbul?

I don't pike to hang out at night.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Istanbul?

"Italiano" in Taksim and "The House" in Besiktas.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Blue mosque.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Istanbul in the future?

It's quite different from the rest of Europe.
