Why did you choose to go to Istanbul, Turkey?
I wanted to visit this magic city. Bogazici University is one of the most valid Universities in Istanbul.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
6 months. 920 €.
What is the student lifestyle like in Istanbul?
I think it's very good. Cheap flats, good and cheap food, good public transportation, a lot of stuff to see and visit, a lot of parties even though I don't really the Turkish concept of clubs/discos.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Istanbul to other students?
Yes, of course.
What is the food like?
Tasty and cheap. Meat oriented. A lot of Turkish delights to try.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Istanbul?
Not at all.
How much does it cost to live in Istanbul?
300 € per month (rent not included) are more than enough.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Language is not easy but necessary outside campuses... There are beginner courses.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Istanbul from your city?
Plane.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Istanbul?
- Taksim
- Besiktas
- Kadikoy
- Bebek
- Ortakoy
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Istanbul?
They are all good.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
The city itself is a site.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Istanbul in the future?
Just enjoy the staying.
