Why did you choose to go to Istanbul, Turkey?

it is a city of great historical importance and a bridge between two worlds. i've been told there was so much to do here and you'd never get bored...the city has a wonderful vibe..

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

i don't have any scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Istanbul?

i want to repeat and highlight that i'm not an erasmus student, but i've come here on my own to follow a turkish course, so i don't know really much. Nightlife is quite lively.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Istanbul to other students?

I would surely recommend the city!

What is the food like?

It's fine. turkish like meat, but there are also plates with vegetables.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Istanbul?

no. I had contacts.

How much does it cost to live in Istanbul?

a bit less than in europe if you know where to go and buy. as regards the renting, you should rent somewhere a little bit far in order to find a better price or somewhere in the center that is not so popular and maybe not the typical students's flat...

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

i don't know much about university, but i'm following a course language at dilmer (which is ok as level, but i hope there's even better). The language is not the easiest because it needs a lot of thinking, you might find difficulties at the beginning, but then, after a little bit of practise, it will be fine and turkish people are very patient and helpful with you.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Istanbul from your city?

public means of trasportation. Get the student card!

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Istanbul?

i don't know.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Istanbul?

ehm, go in places not visited by tourists... it will be less expensive!!!

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

topkapi palace, anadolu kavagi, ayasofia, a lot of camii, pierre loti, uskudar...

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Istanbul in the future?

just be open to discoveries and to a new world!
