Ischgl part 1

My family loves skiing. I am extremely passionate about this sport. That is why it is no wonder that we went to a ski trip in Ischgl in the Austrian Alps. It is one beautiful place. I love the Alps. In fact, that’s my favorite mountain. I have been there twice before and I was excited to go again.

Our flight from Sofia to Vienna was very early in the morning. We had to wake up at five in the morning. We were cold and sleepy, our hands full of bags and ski equipment. We had to turn in our normal luggage and then go to another part of the airport, in order to turn in our ski equipment. It’s a long procedure. We got onto the plane and we were so tired that we almost fell asleep. We had to change flights in Vienna. We spent about two or three hours at the Viennese airport. I could not believe how boring staying at an airport could be. Even though, there were many shops, boutiques, bars, and restaurants, it was extremely boring to stay there. My little sister, who was travelling with us, was and who is unable to stay still, made the things even worse. She was constantly walking around, touching stuff and running. She even managed to open a door that was not supposed to be opened. When she did, an alarm went off and all of the people who were sitting around looked at us disapprovingly.

We finally took the plane to Innsbruck. This flight was even shorter than the previous one. It was less than an hour, but in one of the smallest planes I have ever been too. When you travel in a small plane every current makes a difference. The wind is easily felt and has certain effect on your nervous system and on your stomach.

When we finally arrived to Innsbruck we were tired as hell. We still had one hundred and twenty kilometers to go, though. I almost fell asleep in the taxi we took. All of the taxis in the region (at least the ones I saw) were vans for about ten people. Probably because people usually go skiing with their families or with groups of friends. When we arrived to Ischgl I felt very disappointed. I was in the Alps, more than thousand meters high and it was raining! How could it rain in January in the mountain? We entered our hotel and I got happier. It was clean, beautifully decorated, warm, and very, very pleasant. The receptionists were young and nice. When we registered we went upstairs to our rooms, but before that we left our skis and boots at the ski room. I guess every hotel has one. It is situated at the lowest floor, so that you can go out with your ski boots on and your skis on your shoulder without the need to climb any stairs.

Our rooms were luxurious and beautiful. There were fruits left for us, as well as small Ritter Sport chocolates on the pillow. I fell in love with these because they were the miniest mini Ritter Sport chocolates I had ever seen. We had a television, our own bathroom, a huge wardrobe, a separate toilet, a terrace, a sofa, a desk, should I even go on? It was extremely cool to be at that hotel.

After we arranged our clothes and we discussed the room, we decided to go out for a walk. Ischgl is a nice place. It is a small village, but a luxurious one. What do I mean? First of all, there are many four and five star hotels in the area. Also, there are tons of boutiques and expensive shops which offer designer’s clothes. There are well designed coffees and bars, SPA centers, and so on. Right next to our hotel there was a small shop slash bar. There were different types of wines and meat along with three or four tables, both inside and outside. There was home-made chocolate, very beautifully looking, but expensive… it was a cool place. Our short walk ended quickly because we were tired. We were lucky because one of the town’s main gondolas was very near our hotel.

It was almost time for dinner when we came back to the hotel. The hotel would offer us gourmet cuisine every evening. What does gourmet cuisine mean? The dishes were small, extravagant, and very delicious. There were three or four forks and knives on the table. I even got scared that I would confuse them. I admit, I like well made, high fashion things, but I have never been trained for high fashion restaurants. It was easy though. I did just fine. There were different types of salads at a buffet. We could choose among those salads, plus some nuts and five types of home-made dressings. Then, we got a soup, a starter, a main course, a desert… There was so much food. Everything was weird and interesting to try. There were peculiar combinations of ingredients. We went to bed early: maybe around ten or ten thirty. Our first day was awaiting us.
