Arriving at Germaine's Luau
On arrival there, the visitors are warmly welcomed by the staff who come in one by one, with a necklace made of white or ochre sea shells, made completely by hand. Then, all the guests turn towards the sea shore, standing right next to one another, forming a big circle to carry on with the unique welcoming which vibrantly shows the traditions of the time and of the time of their ancestors. Afterwards they hold a ritual with fire, sounds, sand; it's a ritual which signifies nightfall and eventually ends in a special celebration.
Natural Attraction
For those who want to take amazing photos of special sunsets, the sun lets you see all its potential creativity, creating a picturesque scene which pleases everyone around and makes them interested in finding and capturing the best angles to admire such an event.
Dinner and show time
A little later, the tables are ready for the diners who make their way over and sit themselves down, sharing the tables which have been made, including the people who don't know each other, so one of the attributes is brotherhood and unity which is alive in this place. These tables are located just in front of the stage so that the visitors can enjoy the show whilst they eat.
Once everyone is seated, the show starts on the big stage which is traditionally decorated. Music and traditional dances are the focus of attention, since it's all about lights, fire and colours which show the traditions of Hawaii in all their splendour, allowing the visitors to connect and feel like their a part of a big family.
Then, they have a little slot where they announce that the food is being served. Immediately, the diners start to form queues which go all the way to the available feast. The idea is that each person serves themselves what they want, all this makes the atmosphere light and full of good energy.
Equally, as each person is enjoying different types of Hawaiian food, the show carries on livening up the night and sharing the native movements of the regions and those who want to have another plate of food can take one until there is no more food. It's a party with an overflowing experience of learning, bringing everyone closer to the culture and society which fills so many of the locals as well as the visitors. Smiles and hugs are exchanged all throughout the experience.
Saying farewell
The night carries on and after experiencing such a great night, those who are staying in different hotels have to head off back to Waikiki via the buses available. During the trip back to Waikiki, each bus has a person on board who makes games and recreational activities to liven up the return to the hotel and make the visitors smile more.
Mahalo (which means "thank you") is what's heard the most after the magnificent festival which is a night to always remember.
