Why did you choose to go to Gdansk, Poland?

I come from Italy and I choosed Gdansk because I was interested in doing a different experience. Poland is quite different from Italy, they have a very cold winter, other landscapes, a dissimilar gastronomy. The life's cost isn't very expensive and thank's to it my erasmus experience was even more wonderful.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I received a six month scolarship, it covered the whole erasmus period and it was about 500 euros each month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Gdansk?

You have to attend lessons each day at the university, sometimes you go out for lunch or dinner and during the weekend (but also during the week, there's always something to do) you can go to the disco in Sopot (the city near Gdansk) which is the best place for nightlife.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Gdansk to other students?

Yes, of course. They have a very good organization and they organize a lot of activity fo erasmus too.

What is the food like?

The food is so good, they have a lot of traditional dishes. The prices are very cheap and you can try good things without spending a lot.

How much does it cost to live in Gdansk?

You can live like a lord with 500 euros each month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The polish language isn't very easy but you can speak english and everybody will understand you.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Gdansk from your city?

I come from Sardinia and I always took the flight from Cagliari to Bergamo (Ryanair) and from Bergamo to Gdansk (wizzair). It was the cheapest way.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Gdansk?

I recommend to go out in Sopot, which the center of nightlife. Overthere you'll find a lot of pub and discos and you can choose the best for you.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Gdansk?

I can recommend the Bistro, in ul.Piwna, which is very cheap, nice and they have many tipical dishes. In front of you can find a pierogarnia, where you can taste pierogi, the traditional polish dumplings. Another good restaurant is the Tekstilia, in ul.Szeroka: this is more expensive but you can taste particular dishes and the the food is excellent.
