Why did you choose to go to Gdansk, Poland?
I chose to go to Poland because the cost of living is the same as in Romania, my home country. And also because the city is at sea side and it has interesting architecture.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
My scholarship is one semester (4 months). I received 1400 euros till now and I still have to get 200 euros when I will come back to Bucharest.
What is the student lifestyle like in Gdansk?
Everything is about parties and trips.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Gdansk to other students?
I highly recommend this city! Studying at University of Gdansk and living in Sopot close to the beach.
What is the food like?
A lot of pork meat and sausages.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Gdansk?
No, because I applied for a place in the dormitory before coming here and I got a place.
How much does it cost to live in Gdansk?
It depends on your activities of course. The alcohol is cheap but if you go out every night it will mean something. If you are going to cook you won't spend too much money on food because you can find some cheap supermarkets. The rent is moderate but it depend on the city you live, Gdansk is cheaper than in Sopot.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?
The language it is difficult to learn but of course it depends on your mother tongue. For Slavic people it will be easier to learn.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Gdansk from your city?
By bus but it takes too long.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Gdansk?
Sfinks the best one in Tricity. I lost my phone and my wallet there.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Gdansk?
Manekin.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
The historical center of Gdansk. I didn't see all the important places yet.
Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Gdansk?
Go for one year, just one semester it is not enough.
