Why did you choose to go to Faro, Portugal?

Since it was just for one month - language course - I wanted to go somewhere close to the ocean and with good weather.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

1 month. I am still waiting for my money application to be evaluated. A room was 200-250 euro/month, and since I lived with my boyfriend, we split the price.

What is the student lifestyle like in Faro?

Comfortable! People are relaxed, and I did not feel any stress or pressure. But it's different to be on a language course for 1 month, than to do all of your courses for a master in 1 year.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Faro to other students?

Yes, for a shorter period of time (language course or 1 regular semester). The city is beautiful, but a little small, so I think I would want to experience more after some time. But for a period, Faro is great!

What is the food like?

Both good and disappointing. Like anywhere else, it depends on where you go...

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Faro?

No.

How much does it cost to live in Faro?

200-250/room.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I think Portuguese is very difficult, but the language course is helpful, fun and I recommend it.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Faro from your city?

I had to go by plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Faro?

To the city center.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Faro?

I don't remember any names, but I used Tripadvisor a lot.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The old city in Faro, the beaches and islands close by, and other cities in the Algarve coast.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Faro in the future?

Don't live close to Campus Gambelas, that's far from everything except the campus!
