What is it like to live in Dresden? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I definetly recommend living in Dresden. It has the benefits and flair of a big city but you will find lots of quiet places where you can chill out and get away of the business

What is the student lifestyle like in Dresden?

Excellent lectures and seminars. Don´t miss them out. Exam period is exhausting but you will pass it easily.

How much does it cost to live in Dresden?

Depends on your life style. Most expensive part is the accomodation (250-450€) followed by food (ca. 150€).

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Dresden? Is there any advice you can give?

There are many different places to live in Dresden. Depending on where you wanna live the prices of a room ranges from 250-450 €.

Search for an accomodation in "Strehlen" or "Plauen". Booth are close to the university and quiet cheap. Also there are many student housing possibilities. Don´t miss them out.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

We have lots of supermarkets here in Dresden which allows you to cook on your own regularly. If you wish to eat at a restaurant or something similiar then you will find various places to eat at.

What places would you recommend visiting in Dresden?

Search for "Elbwiesen" and "Großer Garten". You can meet friends there and chill out due to the massiv green space.
If you like hiking you could make various trips to "Sächsische Schweiz" by train.
In winter you should try ice skating at the "Dresden Verbundarena". Very cheap tickets and rent of shoes.

Is it good to eat out in Dresden? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

If you like to eat Burger then you have to try "Hans im Glück" or "Bürgerlich" both deliver excellent burgers and fries - even for vegetariens.

Is the nightlife good in Dresden? Where is good to go?

Try out places like "Kraftwerk" or clubs at Dresden Neustadt.

What advice would you give future students heading to Dresden?

Download the following apps:
"Campus Navigator" (of TU Dresden) they show you the different buildings and rooms within it so you can easily navigate to them.
"DVB Mobil" for public transportation this app is very helpful because you always see the fastest route to your destination and the estimated time.

Also riding bike is very convenien there in Dresden. You are much faster than driving by car, bus, tram etc and reaching out severall places is in the city is only possible by bike. Therefore you should consider bringing a bike with you when arriving in Dresden.
