The food consists most of beef and pork options, and other such traditional choices.

It took about a month to find appropriate accommodation.

How much does it cost to live in Dresden?

In the neighborhood of 500 EUR per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

No. The Saxon dialect is difficult to grasp, but there are language courses offered. Their system to find the right German level is not as specific as it should be. For example, I am between B1 and B2 German and the two classes that were recommended to me were not correct. I discovered after 6 weeks that I should have been in EBW3 (Introduction in professional and scientyifical language- universitary and professional written communication), which I had no idea how to understand this metric.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Dresden from your city?

By public transport or by bike.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Dresden?

I would recommend Neustadt.
