Experience with Qatar airways
Well right now, it is about 3 am here in Kuala Lumpur, the humidity is surreal, my shirt is sticking for my skin, oddly enough I missed the feeling. I can barely keep my eyes open but to be honest I can't take this absence anymore, I feel like I need to start writing again, given also how much is going on now. Let's get to it then, here is what I thought about Qatar airways and the whole experience.
So this was my first time flying with Qatar airways, I have fled with other airlines but never with Qatar airways, I honestly never liked the thought of having to go through transit and changing planes but this time since I booked my ticket last minute and I mean really last minute, less than 24 hours left to the flight, I didn’t have much choice. The flight took about 13 hours from Tehran to Kuala Lumpur with a three hour transit in Doha.
My expectations of Qatar airways were really high so I was quite disappointed when I got on the first plane from Tehran to Doha and saw that it was quite as regular as the other airlines, the flight was QR 491, and it didn’t have built in LCDs to watch movies or plugs to charge our phones, but I was keeping an open mind since the flight was less than 2 hours I could live without those facilities. The flight crews were really polite and courteous, as one would expect and given our flight was at 5 am, they served breakfast which was sausage and scrambled eggs, I honestly liked it, it was quite filling and much better than regular airplane meals.
We landed in Doha shortly after the breakfast, headed down the airplane and we had about 3 hours to spare in the airport till we had to catch our flight to Kuala lumpur, I was super hyped to see “Hamad” airport in Doha, I had heard a lot about it before and even though I was practically half asleep, I dragged myself to the bathrooms, which by the way were one of the best airport bathrooms I have ever seen, and freshened up.
The shops in the airport were duty free and they all accepted international currencies like Dollar and Euro, given it was duty free, one would expect it to be cheaper than normal stores but that wasn’t the case, I went to victoria’s secret to check out their perfumes and since I have like half of them, I remember the exact price of it, the bombshell perfume was about 69 US dollars and well that is pretty much more expensive than Malaysia. it was the same case in Mac, I calculated it and it was a little more expensive, so I don’t really know whether one should shop in airports or not, I guess not.

The facilities in this airport are fascinating; I honestly agree with the fact that it makes your travel experience go so much smoother. I honestly didn’t feel bored or tired while at transit. There are a lot of stuff to get busy with. First of all the most important one of them all, the internet. The airport offers complimentary Wi-Fi to their passengers; I used the Wi-Fi specifically for Qatar airways passengers. There are also internet kiosks which are good to check your email or Facebook. I'm pretty much always on Whatsapp so I didn’t even approach those. There are numerous restaurants and cafes even though I didn’t try out any of them, I wasn’t hungry at all.
The airport architecture and design, is outstanding, I honestly loved it. It looked really beautiful and chic in a way. Overall I loved my time spent in that airport but it was time to go for my Kuala Lumpur flight, I asked which gate I had to go to from the information kiosks and they helped me out. It is super easy to find your boarding gate, even though the airport is huge.

We got on the plane, this plane was clearly better than the last one; it was like an upgraded version. This flight from Doha to Kuala Lumpur was about 8 hours, so I was super happy to be on one of their better airplanes, the flight was QR 852, it had a built in LCD, in which you could use and watch any TV show or movie you want. It was so cool, even though I was asleep more than half of the flight I got to catch up on so many shows. The meals were alright I guess, they served dinner, which was chicken with mashed potatoes and it was okay ish and right before landing they served these wraps, which weren’t good at all honestly. There was also Wi-Fi on board, imagine that, I mean only for 15 minutes it was free and then you had pay for it, but still even that 15 minutes were heaven.
(Another picture of the airport halls, cause I don't know they were aesthetically pleasing)
I definitely do recommend Qatar airways, the flights are expensive, but it is totally worth it, as your flight will go so smoothly, that you almost don’t want to leave the plane. Next up I'm going to write a tip or two about Kuala Lumpur’s international airport (KLIA). Hope this was helpful.
Cheers, I’m back.
