Day 8 | Last day at Vodice

Okay guys! Time to finish the story with our Japanese guest. Where did we stop last time? We got back from Zadar and spent the other day relaxing in Vodice. I think that was 11th or 12th August... my birthday was on 14th but cannot remember whether Madoka was with me that day or not. I knew I was in Zagreb. Anyway, let's finish the story!

Day 8 Last full day in Vodice before leaving for Zagreb

The last (full) days are always difficult when we are at some place that we are about to leave and we try to enjoy our time there maximally. I believe we went to the post to send the postcards to our friends and family in the morning and might have gone shortly to the beach. I know that we went for sure in the late afternoon where the whole family as together at the first breakwater and "the locals" beach. The sea was particularly warm and Madoka, my sister and mom were enjoying the sea in the more shallow part near the shore. It was then that we found out she had worn the lenses and also forgot to leave them at home thus not being able to dive. Shame for the last day!

We stayed in the water until the sunset and were going out when the sun almost "drowned" behind the horizon. It was still very warm. Then we went all together home and walked with our pet who also had refreshment.

In the evening we went for a walk around the town, till the center, ate some ice cream at confectionery Hajduk or Molaga (was long time ago), went to check some souvenirs near the church and that was all. The same day my mom went shopping with my sister (when I was with Madoka walking somewhere else) to buy her some presents. The morning earlier when Madoka and my sister were at home I went with my mom to choose the presents for Madoka so they went to buy it later. Madoka got a t-shirt "Vodice - moje misto" (Vodice - my town) and it was funny the other day in Zagreb when she was going around with it on her.

One day earlier I went to buy us two one-way tickets for Zagreb which costed about 100 kuna each one (and I do not remember if we got some student discount... I believe so). The bus was to leave on 12th August in the morning at around 9. 20 a. m. and we would get to Zagreb around 12. 30 p. m.

Now the time came to pack the stuff. I did not have so much as I left the majority of the things in Zagreb and took only my backpack for laptop and a sports bag for clothes. Though we went to sleep around midnight Madoka stayed for 3-4 more hours outside on the terrace to make us some presents.

Morning before the bus and tough decisions

I had a deal with my dad to go to the beach (the same one) around 7. 30-8 a. m. to swim when there's not more than 10 people in total there and when it is bright and clear. I think we stayed there for more than half an hour and it was difficult to leave the sea, get out of the water for the last time. So after swimming several times and going out I used to dry myself with the towel and then jump again. I repeated this several times. The last time when I knew no more jumping into the sea was going to happen was very difficult. I had the option though to return the other day after Madoka's departure. And I would have done that had I not gotten a job offer from one American company regarding some translation and audio record. They contacted me at the end of my stay in Japan and I had to bring some decision soon. Since we do not have the internet there it would be impossible for me to work for them... and it was a nice opportunity to earn a bit money for Austria and test my skills in this field. So I decided not to come back to Vodice this summer but rather stay at home in Zagreb (which I rarely did in mid-August) and also spend my birthday with my grandparents (who always used to send me greeting cards by post from Zagreb or countryside). So talking about me, I used the opportunity to swim 6-7 days in Croatia and once in Japan... but I could not complain about my summer 2015.

Now back home and hurrying up not to be late at the bus station. We came there 10 minutes earlier with all the baggage. For my mom was maybe a bit more difficult to say goodbye. I already got used to this and learned how to handle it. Especially after Japan nothing is that far away yet close (thanks to the internet and the world is still just one planet Earth) so it's all okay.
