Erasmus Experience in Córdoba, Spain by Natalia
Why did you choose to go to Córdoba, Spain?
I choose Cordoba because it has the same program as my host university.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
My scholarship was 285 euros per month and I received until my program ended. The expenses were much higher, for my room and the payment of the services, I was paying around 300 euros. The money for food, transport (university-home every day) and trips were from my own account.
What is the student lifestyle like in Córdoba?
The centre is alive all the time. A lot of students day and night. I don't party, but there is a lot of stuff to do in the night (parties, clubs).
Would you recommend the city and the University of Córdoba to other students?
Yes, depending on what they want. As a city is pretty nice and also it is easy to travel in other cities.
I was studying science (bio&chem) and I liked it, but here depends on peoples background. I had experience in the lab, but I was lacking some theoretical part and here I could relate what I was doing before in the lab with the theory part. I also had labs and I think the university gives a lot of opportunities to develop, you just need to look for them and ask.
The teachers are speaking well and they always will help you when something is not clear.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Córdoba?
I paid a fee at the beginning of around 70 euros for the company and then just facilities and rent.
How much does it cost to live in Córdoba?
Just living around 300 euros per month, but can be more.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Yes, you learn quickly if you practice, but I already knew a bit of Spanish before so it was easier. There were some lessons, in the beginning, I think so.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Córdoba from your city?
If it is from Spain, the bus is cheaper than the train, but it takes a bit longer.
Also, BlaBlaCar app is a really good one to travel.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Córdoba in the future?
Choose an apartment where there are not so many roommates (depends, but I don't like to share things and sometimes the roommates can use a lot of electricity, water and you have to share equally)
Being an Erasmus student is really good to make international friends through ESN Cordoba or Erasmus Family (trips, meetings organized)
