What is the student lifestyle like in Copenhagen?

I love studying in Copenhagen. My field of study is quite small, so both teachers and students all know eachother and have a good relationship. In my study there's also a student trip every year which is always a pleasure!

Each faculty has a "Friday bar" (and you can visit all of 'em if you want) where people hang out after classes over a beer or two. Sometimes it's a nice chilled atmosphere and other times there's themed parties.

How much does it cost to live in Copenhagen?

Copenhagen/Denmark is an expensive city/country to live in generally compared to most other European cities/countries.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Copenhagen? Is there any advice you can give?

It's quite difficult to find a place to live in Copenhagen (at least a place that is affordable), but as an international student you have the advantage of getting ahead in line for the student rooms (kollegieværelser).

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Generally people eat a lot of pork in Denmark, but you can find everything. Thai, Chinese, Indian, fast food, sushi, sandwiches.. and since it's Denmark.. of course the open sandwich! (smørrebrød).

What places would you recommend visiting in Copenhagen?

The Freetown of Christiania.

Christianshavn and Nyhavn.

Kastellet.

The King's Garden/Rosenborg Castle.

The Little Mermaid.

Is it good to eat out in Copenhagen? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Smagsløget makes the BEST sandwiches! Close to Nørreport st.
Try the roastbeef sandwich with manchego cheese. It's AMAZING!

What advice would you give future students heading to Copenhagen?

Save up some pocket money before arriving ;)
Take advantage of all the cultural stuff that goes on in Copenhagen (movie festivals, concerts and so on)
